Fleetwood Macclesfield - 1000% Funded & Video Review!
over 7 years ago – Fri, May 12, 2017 at 01:34:40 AM

1000% Funded!

We are blown away.  Thank you so much to all of you for not only backing the project, but also discussing it on boardgamegeek.com and sharing it via social media.   It has been a whirlwind of action so far, and we have really enjoyed interacting with you folks in the comments.

We have also unlocked 2 new stretchgoals and we are now well on our way to 2-colored clay money chips upgrade! Woo!

At the age of 16, he invented a new type of carding engine, which converted raw cotton buds into cotton fibres ready to be spun into yarn. In 1771 he built his first water powered cotton mill in the village of Cromford .

He soon realised that there were not enough workers in this small village for his new mill. So he started building cottages in to import workers from outside the area. Employees were granted one week of holidays per year, during which time they were forbidden to leave the village.

Richard Arkwright achieved a great many things in his lifetime, but is probably greatest known for being the "Father" of the modern factory system. Which is a fitting title, considering two thirds of his over 1000 employees were children.

Wigan Out - Two-Color Money Chips Unlocked
over 7 years ago – Fri, May 12, 2017 at 01:33:43 AM

Two-color Clay Money chips unlocked!

So what does that mean?  Well, it means the Clay Money chips will now be insert moulded.  This means that the inner calcium carbonate core is cast in one color, and then a second color is filled around the inner core.  It also means we can make some pretty cool designs.

We have submitted some initial designs to the factory to see what level of detail we are capable of achieving.  The samples we've received so far have very high "resolution" for the pattern of the inner core.  That said, we need to ensure that the artwork we present to you is actually possible to achieve.  Regardless of what level of detail is possible, we are confident that we will be able to achieve a really nice and unique aesthetic with these.   In the stretch goal graphic below, you can see the color pallet we've chosen.

You will also see our next set of stretch goals, which includes more amazing art from Damien Mammoliti, as well as our next Major Stretchgoal: Upgrading all of the £15 denomination (there are 15 of them) Money Chips to an oversized rectangular "plaque".  They will still be 2-color.  The current spec for these is 37mm X 59mm. These babies will be utterly glorious to slam down on the table when.  I really hope we can unlock these, as I'm seriously excited to see how great we can make them.

Heavy Cardboard Birmingham Livestream

The amazing folks over at Heavy Cardboard recently did a play through of the original Brass on YouTube.  You can check it out here.

We loved it so much that we are going to send them them the Birmingham prototype to play through and live stream as well!  This will most likely occur during the first week of May.   We will post the date when it's confirmed.

$1,000,000 - Thank you!
over 7 years ago – Fri, May 12, 2017 at 01:30:53 AM

One Million Dollars.  Wow!  Our entire team is beside ourselves with absolute thankfulness to all of you.  Because of our huge love and appreciation for Brass, we have always considered such a staggering number to be possible by the end of the campaign.  But here we are, just over half way though and we've hit it.  Thank you so, so much to each and every one of you for your contribution to this project.

We've said it before and we'll say it again: we will work incredibly hard to ensure that Brass is as good as we can make it.

Free Stretchgoal to Celebrate $1,000,000!

To celebrate breaking the $1,000,000 threashold, we've decided to include a free stretch goal to say thank you!

In every copy of Lancashire, we will now also include:

  • The 2 player community variant custom map.
  • While the 2017 Roxley rules will be featured as the default rules in the game, we will also feature the rules related to the classic edition of Brass for when you are feeling nostalgic!

Because Birmingham is designed from the ground up to work well with 2 players, there is no need for a second map.  So, in every copy of Birmingham, we will also include something on the back of the board.   Some have suggested a day version of the map, others have suggested featuring just the map.  We will let you know what that is in a future update!

Again, thank you so much!

The poll is now closed and we've made a decision.

We are very happy with the level of response that we received in the poll.  Nearly half of all backers had an opinion on the next stretch goal!

As we've mentioned, Roxley was excited about both of the options that we presented you for this final stretch goal related to the money chips.  Even internally we were split on this decision.

Of the 3429 responses, 66% preferred Option 2: Upgrade all chips to standard poker chip diameter (39mm) plus modular vac tray.

Taking this data into account, combined with us being excited by both options, we've decided to make the next major stretch goal Option 2: Upgrade all chips to standard poker chip diameter (39mm) plus modular vac tray.

We are currently discussing with the manufacturer what would be involved in offering our custom gaming chips as an addon in this campaign.   As part of this request, we've request them to quote us 2 additional denominations,  25 and 100.   We have requested a price for the 100 denomination to be a plaque shape.   If we find this to be feasible, we may still offer plaques as a part of a separate money chip addon.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated.   Because we were so split internally on which of these stretch goals to present, we felt it was a perfect opportunity to seek the feedback of the community.

Thanks again!

Fanbrasstic Additional Art Reveal
over 7 years ago – Fri, May 12, 2017 at 01:29:26 AM

Ok, we admit, today's update title pun was pretty weak.  We apologize for any cringes it may have induced. :D

Damien Mammoliti has been hard at work on the additional artwork stretch goals.  We wanted to ensure that these pieces of art retained the same feeling and color palette as the first piece done by Mr. Cuddington.  We also wanted to maintain a congruent style.  Damien has done an amazing job with maintaining a look and feel with Mr Cuddington's amazing originals, while also providing some very delicious and appropriate eye candy for us to look at.  This alternate art will be split between the cards in each game (though of course industries specific to a single game will only be featured in that game, IE ports are specific to Lancashire).

A huge thank you to Damien Mammoliti and Mr. Cuddington for all their amazing art work. We hope to introduce more of these in upcoming stretch goals!
